When To Buy A Laptop Or A Desktop

By Andrew Johnson

Deciding whether to buy a desktop computer or a laptop can be a difficult decision. Each one has its own advantages; it really depends on the person's needs and wants. Think about what each of them can offer and the differences each of them have. Your decision should be based on your needs and your budget.

An individual thinking about what type of computer to buy should think about what each of them has to offer. For laptops, the fact that you can take it wherever you go is the big seller. With a wireless card, the individual will be able to have their applications and important files with them at all times. Checking emails, keeping connected through instant messaging and researching needed information can all be done anywhere.

The weight of laptops is no more than ten pounds and this is because they are meant to be carried. People do not want to carry something weighting about twenty-five pounds, what the desktop weights that would be like carrying a toddler on your hip all day. Bags are made for laptops and they have shoulder a strap to carry easier, some bags even have wheels so you can pull it. This particularly benefits college students and business individuals who are constantly on the go. Many times these people ride a train and this could be an ideal time do catch up on any work.

Since laptops are portable they have a higher risk of getting damaged. Those who carry them need to be extra careful. Many times these people are in crowds, in a hurry so the chances increase for the laptop to bang against something is highly likely. These bags contain a padded material inside with straps to keep it in place. There are different types and sizes for these bags, it is what fits your needs.

Having a laptop increases your risk of someone stealing it. Obviously, it is less likely that someone will steal a desktop computer being that there are more parts and weighs more. However, you can take precautions by locking your laptop and take it wherever you go.

The prices of laptops have come down in price, but still, desktops are less expensive. If money is a factor purchasing a desktop may be your best option. Laptops also have better performance today but desktops still offer better performance. Those living in smaller homes or apartments should also remember how much room it takes up and the purchase of a desk is required.

Desktops are less expensive and more comfortable to work with. Laptops provide internet access from anywhere. Essentially, the choice is yours and it depends on your needs. - 22787
