The Process Of Adding Memory Module Into Computer

By John B. Emmerson III

One of the most significant computer upgrades is RAM. Installing RAM can remarkably raise your pc's performance. The more applications you use at the same time and the more space concentrated the applications are, the more memory you will require. Anti-virus software's are notorious memory hogs. If you notice your pc slowing or hanging when several programs are running, it is time to add RAM to your computer system board.

Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable. Turn the pc case so the back faces you. Clarify the amount of memory you can append to your system board. Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, or the website for your pc's model, for correct specifications and kind of memory modules needed.

Open the case on your computer. The screws are to be found at the back of the tower. Remove all screws holding the case in position, and lift the cover from the case. Look for the existing memory modules. These will be cards on the system board itself. They will not have any wires coming from them. They will be inserted into some slots.

Keep in mind how the current modules are placed. Your new modules be supposed to be in the same orientation. In an open slot, press the new RAM in. Press it down, not at any angle. Push down until you hear the module click into slot. The clips that hold the modules in place will clip into the slots on either end of the module automatically. Restart the pc so the system can acknowledge the new RAM modules.

Keep in mind If you are not sure as to which memory modules to take, look at your current modules. If you meet much resistance, rearrange the RAM and try again. Pressing too hard can spoil the pins and prevent the RAM module from running. - 22787
