Buying Used Computers Versus New

By Adriana Noton

There are many instances where purchasing new electronics is best. This may not always apply to computers. Buying used computers often offers many benefits over buying new. I have had several of each and have come to prefer used over new for many reason. If you are looking for a computer then read this first before you decide if you want a new or used computer.

Refurbished is another term for used. The difference is that these have at least been tested by professionals and possibly redone as well. You can usually count on them at least having a fresh installation of the operating system when you receive them. With these you can usually be sure they will be in good working condition when you receive them. A lot of these also come with at least a limited warranty.

If you have the option of testing a used system renting computers then take advantage of this. If you are buying online then don't be afraid to ask questions. You should know exactly what you are getting to be assured of being happy with your purchase. This will also enable you to get the best deal possible. You can buy a tower cheaper without the monitor but if you need a monitor then it is usually cheaper to buy them together.

You may want to get a computer that comes with a restore disk. If you don't have this and you ever have the need to reformat your computer then you may have to spend a lot of money to buy an operating system. The restore disk will restore the computer to the original setting but anything you have downloaded or saved may be erased.

Most people tend to think they should buy new computers because of the warranty. The truth is that most stores will only take a computer back for 15 days after the sale. After that you have to contact the company that made the computer. They will usually send you parts first to see if that will fix the problem and if not then you have to send them the tower to let them fix it.

While I have known a lot of people who didn't have problems with the warranties, I have had a lot of problems in this area. I have had so many problems with this that I have come to prefer to just buy a used computer and then fix it myself if needed. This tends to save time and money for me. Of course you need some knowledge of computers to do this.

If you look around you can find used computers that offer everything the new computers do. You can buy them with just as much memory and hard drive space, which are 2 of the main things I usually look at. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with these computers. People find that they either don't need them or they have upgraded because they want a newer model.

If you are looking for a computer then you can get a great deal on used computers if you shop around a bit. These tend to be much better deals than the ones you can find at leading electronics store and with the money you save you can buy as many as you like. - 22787
