Brother HL 5250DNT Printer And HL 5250DNT Toner

By Ben Pate

An economical and affordable small network printer for workgroups is the Brother HL 5250DNT Printer, which works with the Brother HL 5250DNT Toner. It's also a quality step up from its siblings lower in the Brother lineup. One way it differs is in the amount of paper it can hold, with additional capacity available through add-ons. It's also an extremely affordable network printer. This alone can make it an attractive offering for any small business.

The Brother printer matches up well in a network that requires versatility in its printers, too. It can handle both letter and legal-size documents, in two separate trays, and it even can handle envelope jobs. The only thing needed is to ensure the correct-size paper is put into the designated tray. After that, it's a simple matter of designating the right job to the right printer output.

The HL 5250 can hold up to 550 sheets of paper. Each paper tray can hold up to 250 sheets, plus there's a 50-sheet tray for odd jobs and the like. A small networked group will be able to print whatever it needs, ideally. Additional storage capacity is added through an available 250-sheet extra tray.

The HL 5250 is a versatile printer as far as connectivity goes. It comes standard with a number of different connection ports, including the latest Ethernet network interface. There are also industry standard USB 2.0 interface ports that come with the unit. These ports will allow the printer to be shared among the small office workgroup with little or no difficulty. IT specialists are sure to have a smile on their faces when it comes to hooking this laser printer up.

The Brother printer can put out pages at up to 30 a minute. Most small networked workgroups will find this printer more than adequate for what they need it to do. Always keep in mind that print speeds can be different, depending upon the complexity and data content of the print job going to the unit. Additionally, this laser printer has a 20,000 page maximum duty cycle, which makes it a unit that won't need frequent or unscheduled maintenance.

Print clarity and crispness is benefited by the 1200 by 1200 print resolution. Printed copy will stand out and look excellent under almost any circumstance. The unit uses the latest in black-and-white laser printing, giving each sheet a nice appearance. The HL 5250 also comes standard with 32MB of memory, which can be added to it, all the way up to 512MB.

This Brother laser printer can operate off of Windows and Linux systems, in addition to Mac OS. Because of this, it's a very versatile and functional unit. Commonly, at this price point, you might see just a single operating system capability (usually Windows). Certainly, you hardly ever see a printer able to use the three main systems on the market today. - 22787
