By San-Juan DeMarco

With portability being the way to go, desktop computers are becoming a thing of the past. With the new mobile devices such as iPhones, Blackberries and other smart phone on the market, they are making portability a desired commodity. Just walk down the street and you will see how true this really is.

These days if you have to wait till you get home to check your e-mails, make twitter updates, or blog about your adventure at the store then you are already behind. These mobile devices create opportunities to stay connected all the time. Just recently the introduction of netbooks has given an even bigger push for computers on the go.

Also, laptops are increasing in popularity because they provide portability and take up very little space. It is easy to through one into a backpack for school or traveling. So the question is why would anyone want to buy a desktop?

Contrary to popular belief, desktops are still a great commodity in any home or office. They are more cost efficient, and the overall functionality is great. Also they are stationary; and you might ask why this is good.

Many parents are still cautious of the internet and what can be found on it so they like to have a home computer that is out in the open and stays there in order to see what their kids are doing on it. Because laptops are so portable it makes it easy for children to take it somewhere where their parents are not so having a desktop provides stability for parents.

If you are worried about it taking up a lot of space they are now making all-in-one desktop computers. These are a lot smaller than traditional laptops, but still have the power of one. You will get a bigger screen with this as well.

In addition to being stable and more functional desktops are cost effective. When comparing a desktop with a laptop for the same price it is easy to see that you can get a lot more computer for the same price. Further, because laptops are portable they are more susceptible to becoming damaged while packing them around which ends up costing you more in the long run.

Looking at these advantages and others it is easy to see why desktop computers will continue to stick around. There are many options available out in the market so be sure and look at them all and you might be surprised at what you can find. - 22787
