Keeping Up With New Computers

By Kazu Oda

The computer world is always changing and evolving. New technology is being developed and new applications are being devised all the time. Some of the movers and shakers in the computer world have recently made a number of announcements that hint at even bigger things on the horizon.

Lately, the companies that are the movers and shakers when it comes to processors, operating systems, and browsers, have made a lot of news with some of the products they offer. Each of these announcements has the potential to change the way we look at and use computers in our daily lives.

Intel made some important announcements about some new processors. First, they announced the Core i7 and the Core i5. These processors were specifically designed to increase the performance of high end computers, or in other words, computers that are used for gaming, digital media, or productivity suites. According to the statistics from the tests, these new processors should be able to improve performance but still decrease power consumption.

The processor company also announced their processors for entry level server computers. The new Intel 3400 and 3420 chipsets are going to offer a lot of benefits to businesses by speeding up transaction and response time. These are things a business can't afford to skimp on in today's fast-paced world.

The operating system industry is seeing a lot of changes as well, and there is even more on the horizon. Snow Leopard for the Mac just came out, and it was designed to make the computers run faster and smoother. Many people have been happy with the upgrade, but there are reports of some troubling bugs with other computers. Google also announced that its own operating system, Google Chrome OS, is also in development, and Windows 7 should be released later this year.

Windows 7 is possibly one of the most important announcements this year because so many people seem to be complaining about Windows Vista on their computers. Vista has suffered under a reputation for security problems and buggy performance. The next iteration of this operating system could have huge repercussions on Microsoft's future and who we use computers.

The way we interact with the Internet is also changing really fast. Recently there have been significant changes to Firefox and IE, and everyone has their preferences, but now Google has made news again. The company has just made a deal with Sony to include the Google Chrome browser as the default browser on Sony Vaio computers. This is a huge deal because it gives the new browser a new way to gain market share.

Computers are a big part of our everyday lives, and as our needs keep evolving the industry will change to keep up. As consumers we can watch the news and follow the industry so we can always know how things are changing and stay on the cutting edge of technology. - 22787
