Compatible Ink Cartridges and Saving Money

By Mary Dolen

If you are on a tight budget, you've probably realized that replacement ink cartridges are not cheap. If you need an ink cartridge that will give you a quality result, you may be hard pressed to find one cheap.

Some people don't really care about how their prints look. If you're someone that falls under that category, you can pretty buy any cartridge that you want. But if you're like me, you probably want copies from your printer to look really good. But if you think that buying the most expensive cartridges will get you the best results--think again! The highest prices don't always equal the best results.

Refilling your ink cartridge yourself is one of the cheapest and most popular solutions out there. If you're someone that has to worry about how much they pay for things, you'll discover that buying a refill kit for ink is a cheap and effective solution. While printer refill kits can cost as much as normal set of cartridges, you can use the kit to refill your cartridges many times.

Refilling your own printer ink has a number of pros and cons. The main advantage with refilling your cartridge at home is the amount of money you save. Most people can save over 60% to 70% off the original manufacturer's price on printer cartridges. But besides saving tons of money, refilling doesn't have many pros. For cons, refilling is a very messy and at times--risky--process. Many people have messed up or damaged their printers because their refilled cartridge leaked. Also, ink is very messy and can stain your clothes and hands very easily. Finally, some printers use electronic chips inside the ink cartridges and if you try to refill one of those types of ink, your printer will not accept it when the cartridge is reinserted.

The best way to save money on your ink cartridges is through re-manufactured cartridges. Many local office stores and online stores sell this cartridges at prices much lower than the national brand name. Saving lots of money is easy with buying 3rd party cartridges. They prove to be much more reliable than buying ink refill kits (plus they don't stain your clothes) and they give a much better quality print.

Locally, you can find a number of stores that sell both ink refills as well as their own brand of ink cartridges. OfficeMax is one those local superstores that has the ability to refill your cartridge in-store. They also have OfficeMax brand ink cartridges that you can buy if you want something a bit more quality for photos or marketing jobs. If you're not in a giant hurry to get the ink for your printer, you can shop online for the best deals and the cheapest ink cartridges. There are many sellers who provide quality cartridges as very low prices. When buying ink online, you can expect to save over 60% on your ink compared to buying new name-brand cartridges locally. - 22787
