Ink Refills for the Smart

By Annie S. Green

Who says you have to spend more money than you have to when you're printing out hundreds of pages regularly? Brand new cartridges are really costly to buy even the cheapest ones in the market. For a fraction of the price of the new one, you can extend the life of your cartridge with refills. One or two refills are recommended. You don't have to be throwing out too many cartridges that will cause a lot of garbage anyway. You can buy ink refills online pretty easily so why pay too much for a cartridge when these would work just the same and save you a lot more money in the end? You can opt for this cheaper means but you've got to know what you're doing so you don't break your printer.

Ink refill kits should be compatible with the brand and model of your printer. Cartridges in the industry are not made of the same kind of ink. You need to use refills that would work well with yours if you expect the same results. You also want to eliminate the possibility of ruining your printer.

Always watch out for warning signs that the ink is running low. Refills don't make your cartridge as airtight so the ink that sits too long tends to become thicker as it dries. You don't want this kind of bad ink flowing out of the cartridge outlet and risk damaging it. The worst that could happen is it may damage the printer head. In this case, you're better off buying a new printer.

The set of instructions that come with the refill kit should be followed entirely. Never miss anything or you'll damage the ink cartridge and maybe even the printer head. That would totally defeat the purpose of going cheap as it will end up costing you a whole lot more. You can as might was well throw out the printer if you're careless and went ahead with the refill anyway.

Don't mix up the colors. Put the right colors in the right cartridge. Can you imagine how the printout will look like when you mess this up? It's just unsightly unless you're in some sort of art experiment. As you're putting in the ink, you don't want the mess all over the place. Unless you're already really good at this, cover your work area with some thick papers or cloth just so your furniture won't take the brunt of your spills which you will eventually clean off anyway.

What happens now when you get some ink on your hands? They don't come off with soap alone. You will have to wash it off with a mild bleach solution mixed with water and then wash the bleach off with the soap.

Using ink refills are really economical. Just observe a few things and you are on your way to saving yourself a lot of expenses. - 22787
